a pattern test that turned out a sanitary pocket!
on the photo it contains three sanitary pads! It’s a bit small I think, I would like to fit in more than only three. But with this, no worries if it falls out of tha bag! I might just do some more just for fun… Perfect gift just for fun! And a perfect thing to do when trying out patterns – you can actually use it for something! It’s done like a pillow case, so there are no strings to keep track of, and no zipper! Since the pads are bendable and the pocket in itself is strechable, it’s very easy to put them in and take them out!
Now the glue has hardend fully, and I must say I prefere sugar-water-starching. The glue turned out to make it hard enough, but it wasn’t flexible in the same way as sugar water. When it broke, it stayed loose in that section. With the sugar water, I find it is more flexible and plastic, that it is possible to reshape it over and over. But in defense of the glue starch – the crochet wasn’t very stable in itself so I guess it was bound not to be very stiff.
And I’m not to happy with the size or the height. It’s just a bit to small. And uneven. But hey, it was an at the moment inspired crown, no pattern and no exact plan, so I can’t expect to much.
Here are some photos! It’s qute, but not good…
The mini project of tonight; a crochet bridal crown. As with the christening dress without the baby, I dont have a bride for the crown… but who cares!
it’s the fun of doing it that gives me satisfaction!
As said in the headline: it’s in a starching process right at this moment. I have starched some things before with sugar water, and it has turn out fine, but now I’m trying with glue! 1 part white wood glue + 1 part water is what I’m trying out now. I just dipped the whole thing in it and pressed out the exess fluid with my fingers. Than I arranged it around the bottom of a plastic bowl which I hope corresponds to the normal birdal crown size… I have no idea if it really will be a good size… but who cares!
It’s actually not a circular crown, but rather a headpiece… in swedish it would be called a “diadem” i guess, because it’s open in the back.
