Lace Crown 5 | winter woods | 2020

A cute little crown with 5 elaborate points, perfect for a winter wedding or a beautiful princess. šŸ™‚ Crocheted with thin white thread. I was considering to attch some pearls to it but I think that might be to elaborate – it is already very detailed.

Crochet Bridal Crown | 2020 | Morning Star

Extravagant and sparkly was asked for. Extravagant and sparkly was provided. 99 small silver glass pearls and 11 big square hanging glass pearls. Receiver preferred the hanging pearls to be attached with white cotton thread, not seethrough nylon thread. Receiver is an 8 year old, so I fully trust her judgement when it comes to extravagant princess style crowns – no questions asked.Ā  A thin hair diadem can easily go through the big holes or it might be attached on a textile covered diadem with just a few knots. It wouldn’t be hard to do.

Crochet Bridal Crown 3 | 2020 | small

Small wedding tiara this time, decorated with white silvery glass pearls. It reminds me of naked birch trees in northern Sweden, out on the country side, where I have lived a significant part of my life. Therefor I call it Nothern Light, which also reminds me of nothern Sweden.

The yarn I have used for no 1, no 2 and now no 3 is the same – bought second hand online. The pearls are from a second hand bought necklace. The glue would be the only new bought.

This one is for sale on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/se-en/listing/772804603/wedding-crown-nothern-light

Crochet Bridal Crown 2 | 2020 | with pearls

For a playful bride, bachelorette or a sweet princess, no matter how old. A couple of different ways of displaying it. The crown is decorated with small glass pearls and some big green plastic pearls – just what I happened to have at home! The pattern is similar to the previous one but not exactely the same. The bows between the points are a bit different. And I put some pearls on a crocheted and starched snowflake too while I was at it. šŸ™‚

The glass pearls are tiny as … I attach them with wood glue. The small glass ones stick very well lile that. The big plastic pearls not so much, good enough for photos at least, but if I would use thar again, I would actually use thread for them and attache after it has dried (as with the small pearls too) and glue that thread.

Crochet Bridal Crown 1 | 2020 | done

There we go! It turned out just fine for a test. I’ll probably make a 7 pointed one with some minor adjustments and make a proper pattern. It is cute and easy enough. Bridal crowns are fun to do, and they are just really cute. Problem is they are complicated to store and there is not much use for them, except for actually wearing. Crocheted snowflakes are flat and nice, and I can always sell or give them away.

Crochet Bridal Crown 1 | 2020 | in progress

An improvised crochet bridal crown in progress. After having crocheted it, I found a suitable bowl which will give it the intended form. I covered it in just a plastic kitchen/freezer bag and then thouroghly wet the crown in a mixture of wood white glue and water (about 60/40 glue/water). Now it wil dry there and become hard, and then the result will show. Since it was improvised kind of as I went, there are 6 points. Usually I would prefere an uneven number. 5 would make a pretty small one in this case, 7 points pretty big. This is more as a test – last time I crocheted a bridal crown was 10 years ago. This one I will probably give to a friend who has some kids who are young enough not to care about a little inconsistency in a princess crown, or whatever they will play šŸ™‚

I might just see if it would work out with metallic gold spray color. 20200119_162444

Crochet Snowflake 2 | 2020

This one turned out pretty cute! About 18 cm wide. I have big wine glasses, yes. Bought T-pins for blocking the other day and I don’t know yet if I like them. Thicker than I am used to, but …

After I have starched them with glue, pinned and let them dry, I iron them on low heat (to high and the glue burns … … ) and that gives them an extra neat look yet the fibres do not look flattended. They soften when warmed anf then stiffens again when they cool which gives a chance to adjust some angles. It’s a matter of maybe ten seconds with this thin yarn but I just do it several times. Really easy to adjust and straighten picots also, which I find hard to pin down, especially with these thicker pins. Make sure to use some kind of paper between the piece and the iron, otherwise there are sticky problems. The glue doesn’t melt, it just softens, but will stick and probably burn easily if directly under the iron.

Crochet snowflakes in use

Some crochet snowflake in use, as decor at a dinner table, hanging on furniture and incorporated in Christmas wreath on my apartment door.
